Primary Campus will host it's monthly Parent Advisory Board meeting on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 starting at 4:30pm.

January 17, 2024 Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s), This morning, we became aware that there was a weapon discharged in the boys bathroom of our Gary Lighthouse College Prep Campus. We are currently on a hard lockdown and police are assisting us in searching the building. We performed checks on lockers, bookbags and body checks on all of the scholars. During the search, we did uncover a weapon. The scholars were identified, the parents were contacted, and the proper authorities were made aware of the actions. It is standard practice that if incidents of this magnitude occur, the police department will support the school in these situations and will provide instructions for us to follow. No one from our school community was injured or harmed and we have no belief that any of our scholars are in danger. School safety is of the utmost importance, so we wanted to outline critical details from our safety plan at NWILCS - College Prep that are in action so you are aware: ● College Prep has additional staff members monitoring the inside and outside for safety throughout the school day. ● The extra doors to the building have alarms on them so we know when someone has entered or left the building due to the alarm sounding. ● No visitors are allowed inside the building without an appointment. Anyone needing to discuss matters with the Front Office will not be permitted past the vestibule. ● Interior doors to the school are secure, not allowing access to the building. ● All doors to the building open for arrival and dismissal have school personnel posted so unauthorized people cannot enter the building. We ask that moving forward; you also check your scholar's book bag before they leave for school, in conjunction with our bag checks. We also ask that you continue to speak with your scholar around appropriate social media usage. Please continue to reinforce with your scholars that they report to an adult if they hear or see something that could potentially cause harm to our school community. Our scholars usually do well with reporting things, but we appreciate the added support as we work together to keep everyone in our school community as safe as possible. Safety is our number one priority next to fulfilling our mission of educating our students. On Tuesday, January 16, 2024 we will switch over to an e-learning day. All students must be online via Google Meets at 8:30am to start their instruction. This is how we will determine the attendance for the day. If your scholar does not have access to technology, please reach out to your scholar's teacher or school leader via email to get directions for the next steps to support their learning for the day. Attention NWILCS students, parents, guardians, & staff: NWILCS schools are NOT closed tomorrow (Friday, 1/12/2024). We are keeping a close eye on the weather situation. Please be sure to check our website, social media, the NWILCS App, and local news media for information on closures. We will send out texts, emails, and robocalls. If there is a cancellation, and conditions permit, students will engage in synchronous instruction tomorrow with details to follow.

Greetings Lighthouse Primary Families:, Lighthouse Primary is excited to announce that we will be hosting part 2 of our 2nd Annual Winter Carnivals on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at our East Chicago Lighthouse location (3916 Pulaski St, East Chicago, In) There will be lots of fun activities for our scholars to do like bounce houses, balloon making, music, dancing, face painting, games, and food. We are having BINGO for our parents. This year we will have several vendors on site selling various products like Paparazzi, scented candles, and personalized tumblers, just to name a few. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Parent/Guardian that has/had a desire to go as a chaperone, (approved background must be on file and not expired) money has to be turned in by 9am Friday, December 22, 2023, no exception (school dismiss promptly at 12:30pm this day) Parent/Guardian, please remember, chaperones were on a first come first serve base as this was a limited amount. Lighthouse Primary Family hosted a staff Potluck on 11/21/23

Primary Campus will have a Santa Secret Workshop for the scholars to purchase gift items ranging from a quarter all the way up to $10

Good Evening Lighthouse Families, This week we began our first PBIS reward for scholars that haven't received any referrals. Scholars in grades K and 1 participated in launching them. Next week, grades 2 and 3 will participate. This activity was coordinated through Cub Scouts. We will be partnering with this organization throughout the year to bring more fun opportunities to our scholars. A few important dates to keep in mind are: 11/15 Penny War and Food Drive ends 11/22-11/24 Thanksgiving Break-NO School Class DOJO Behavior reports and Progress Reports were sent home today. Parent-Teacher Conference and Report Card pick will be being held on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 9am-6pm at each campus. Please feel free to stop in at your campus as Conferences will be going on most of the day. Please check in with your scholar's campus directly to see if they have more specifics.

Primary Campus had its 2nd, monthly Parent Advisory Board meeting. The meeting took place at our Primary Campus and we welcomed our President (Tamika Wright) and Vice President (Francine Smith). We discuss our next event taking place in October (Fall Fest) and ways that everyone could help.
